Xbox Kinect

Hold the Phone, Hold the Horses, Hide your kids, Hide your wife… The end is near! If I were talking about the end of the world you’d all think I was nuts… Although I may be nuts i’m not talking about the end of the world… I’m talking about the end of the handheld controller as we know it. Over the past 5 years military grade motion tracking technology has slowly been creeping it way into consumer electronics. Microsoft started playing with the technology in their web cams almost 3 years prior to the release of their revolutionary Xbox Kinect.

Now I know some of you are sitting there saying ” Wow! Brian… Bold Statement. The end of the hand held controller, quit being over dramatic” ok ok, you’re right I’m being a little over dramatic. I’m sure handheld controllers will still be around for a few more years. At least until Xbox learns how to fix the lag on their Kinect, and release a few more games that take full advantage of the hardware/software.

Although I can’t wait to get one of these for myself and it’s number 2 on my list next to Epic Mickey, I will admit the device does have some flaws. So make sure you head to your nearest best buy and give it a shot before you toss one under the tree.

B, glad you did it on the connect. I’m a fan of all systems but I challenge PS3 and Wii to make something more innovative. While PS3 chose “wand” technology XBox chose a much rockier road.
I for one will support this way before any other systems.

This is really cool dude. I tried this at a media event a little while ago, and I must say, it’s a lot of fun. I’m not even a gamer and it held my attention. Great post!
