True Blood – Season 4 & More

The phenomenon that is “True Blood” is comparable to the flu.  It starts out small, only a select few contract it, and then like a brush fire it spreads and corrupts the world.

I was one of those who caught the bug a bit late.  If you’ve read my TubeTalk blogs before you know my wife and I are US Cable junkies. A few years ago, when True Blood Season 2 was concluding, my wife asked if I would be interested in watching the show.  Now, I’m a big fan of vampires; from Dracula to Lestat. Then “Twilight” came along turning one of my favorite genres into a pubescent plague. So you can imagine my response, a resounding HELL NO! However, like the flu True Blood was infectious, and my friends and colleagues convictions mutated me into a dark eyed Fangbanger!

This Sunday (June 26th) marks the return of True Blood with Season 4. Season 3 in retrospect accomplished two things: 1.) It established the largest cast of characters central to an ongoing narrative. 2.) It confused and annoyed fans hoping for plot resolutions. This series is controlled by a very talented crew, but some people are asking if they’ve bitten off more than they can chew.

As we saw from the season finale Bon Temps is in disarray. Tara left town for a new start; Sam went after Tom; Sookie has refused all vampires entry into her home; Eric was saved from a concrete coffin; and Bill‘s secrets have been revealed. Cliffhangers abound as Bill was fighting Sophie-Anne in a dual to the death, Eric was gloating to Pam about forcing Bill to reveal the truth to Sookie, and Sookie went to another realm with Claudine. Then there’s Jason and Lafayette’s storylines, the werewolves, Pam’s demon baby, and of course… the mystery as to what Sookie really is.

Thus, it is safe to say that Season 4 has plenty in store. So far HBO has been pretty tight lipped about what to expect; however, we do know that the season will be based on Book Four of The Southern Vampire Mysteries, Dead to the World. Rumor has it there will be a new evil in town, hence the season tagline “Something Wicked” (from the Ray Bradbury classic “Something Wicked This Way Comes”).  What exactly will that evil be?  WITCHES!

I am really looking forward to the upcoming season and I plan on writing a brief synopsis after every episode. Come by Dreamland every week and discuss the world of True Blood with us.

See you in a few days!

Great piece dude. I’ve heard amazing things about this show, but I can’t seem to get into it. I’ll tell you what I’d like to get into though…That little slut-face that stars in it. Anna Paquin just has a look about her that implies she can take D. For reals.
