@TeensInLove

Toddlers are honest and teens are emotional. During the first few years of life we are forced to discover the physical. We learn to use our legs, direct our speech, and cheer at our success atop the potty! We coast off of this success until we graduate from middle-school and the trials of being a teenager begin.

Like those early years we are forced to discover, understand, and overcome a challenge. However, this time the struggle is internal, and the memories of such last a lifetime. The hormonal tilt-a-whirl that is adolescence leaves some sick and others dizzy. In other words, being a teen isn’t easy, especially when it comes to matters of the heart.

Whether it came in the 9th grade or the 12th most of us found a first love in those four years. We had our first kiss, first date, and our first heartache. We started by spending days in the clouds, and ended with weeks of despair. There is nothing as exhilarating as being a teen in love. There is nothing as painful as being a teen in love.

@TeensInLove is an amazing Twitter account I was introduced to recently. It embodies what I’ve said above, and expresses such several times a day. It reminds me that what we learned to cover up in our twenties is still blistering behind the mask.

Many of us claim this cloak is a result of past betrayals. Others say its protection from future disappointment. Either way it’s a charade! If you love someone, pleasure or pain, you’ve got to muster the guts to act accordingly. If you’ve forgotten how, remember those teenage years when you were willing to risk everything; or read some pithy quotes from kids doing exactly that. <3

    You know, as much as people complain about this generation’s needs to post their every thought and feeling on the internet, I think it’s actually beneficial. Teens now can get out their frustrations and voice their feelings- and within minutes they have immediate responses to consol them or give advice. I think the teens of this generation won’t feel the ‘loneliness’ people now in their late 20s and 30s may have felt.
