Imagine existence partitioned into three planes. First, Reality: the universal experience had by all. Second, Sub-Reality: experiences shared between kindred spirits. Lastly, Dreams: dreams though common are nevertheless experienced independently. So there we have it, life divided into three dimensions (the whole, the party, and the individual).

Like all of you I am a participating member of this collective species. Purple, Blue, Red or Green we are all human. Whether intentional or otherwise we all work towards continued survival. To ensure success we often pair up with others. However, in partnering up we not only amplify our strengths and resources, we also increase in experience. After spending enough time with other individuals a shared understanding of life develops.

Then there is the isolated self; you, me, and everybody breathing. The independent soul is a vulnerable entity. Though it is similar to the other souls it travels with, it is nonetheless unattached from the world it floats within. Aware of this every soul in turn constructs a set of glasses, items entitled “perspective.” Every set is specific to the soul that creates it. These glasses act as both an interpretative lens and a defensive shield; ultimately affording each a protective view of the world.

Basically, when life in general overwhelms the group everybody shields themselves. These shields are as diverse in style and substance as there are grains of sand in the sea. But since you’re treading on my shores… let me show you mine.

My Glasses/My Dance:

The structure is always underground. It appears like a series of domed chambers, each incredibly expansive in size. Constructed of stone and sitting in dark waters it appears as though an ancient aqueduct, (lit by a dim and unknown source). There’s no life here, neither vegetation nor mammal. Simply an infinite series of marble chambers resting in a still river.

Now, although there is no life here I am certainly not alone. There’s many masked phantoms lurking about in this sea of shadows. I know they’re there. Though their appearance is cloaked their presence is audible; taunts, jeers, and the sound of them ever drawing closer; amplified foot-steps which walk me ever further into madness.

Yet, a separate spirit also haunts these halls, and this ghost continues to shelter me. Though its shape is undefined it curves in the air like a treasured memory. Whenever these demons collect and conspire against me. Whenever their screams become rabid and they gnash their teeth… I’m swept away and comforted. For this spirit is not only a sturdy shield, but also a trusty sword. So with saber in hand I slice my way back to the sacred shores we started with.

If you’ve seen Sucker Punch this will all make sense. However, the same can be said by those who have read enough from my life at the movies ;)

I thought you would like this one after saying that. So funny, because I was almost done the first draft when you posted that tweet, and I was like “holy hell he is reading my damn mind right now!” LOL

Dreams are the answers to questions we haven’t learned yet how to ask (so said Mulder in one of my favorite episodes of The X-Files).

Wanted to ask if you had seen “Franklyn” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0893402/ ) with Ryan Phillipe and Eva Green? I’d be really interested to hear/read your take on that one, especially after seeing Sucker Punch.
