Sorry 4 the Wait

The other day I included a post script in my piece “How to Love,” regarding Lil Wayne’s Carter IV pre-fix. On Tuesday the free-for-download mixtape hit the web, and since then has been downloaded +246K. That’s over a quarter million poindexter. Meaning he’s gone gold two times over on datpiff, and has again proven his popularity’s potency.

The tape is titled “Sorry 4 the Wait,” and every song screams exactly that. No tomfoolery here, Weezy F. offers twelve tracks for his friends, family, and fans. Including old friends like Gudda Gudda and Birdman, and new friends like Thugga, Raw Dizzy, and Flow. The only information I could gather on said trio I garnered from the song itself. In Weezy’s concluding verse he mentions they’re from New Orleans. Looks like Cash Money is still an Army… better yet a Navy!

The mixtape in addition to being an atoning offering is also a reflection.

Weezy circa 2004 exits his Delorion. Using pop beats of all brands he delivers his three-fold focus: Guns, Pussy, and Loyalty. It’s a soowoo gatted & tatted affair. The album cover is blood red, and the lyrics are vulgar in the utmost. On Gucci Gucci he boasts, “Glock 4’tini, Nina-Colada… suck, swallow, semen, saliva.” Certainly a clever way to describe the art of war. On Throwed Off he gets additionally braggadocios stating, “Married to the mob. Bury you alive. My girl pussy feel like heaven to a god.” REWIND! Yes, his wordplay is brilliant and his syllables striking.

The subject matter is excessively offensive, but it’s a side of Lil Wayne his hardcore fans enjoy. And considering it’s the side of his persona record exec’s won’t pay for, he’s giving it away for free.

I highly recommend S4W to all LilTunechi fans in need of a fix. It’s new material worth repeating, remembering, and reciting. Grab it for free from datpiff’s sponsored link below.

It is steady spinning still. I have easily listened to in full a dozen times over. Certain songs are getting much more play however, especially those attached.

While I was not really a fan of this guy until the Carter’s started dropping I gotta say he has grown on me.  Heard some of this at your crib and like what he’s doing!

Yes, you were a HUGE No Limit fan in the early days… and I as usual was a fence sitter. Although truth be told we both know I was then a bigger No Limit fan. However, as you also know, Weezy has always been my favorite. I was made fun of for years in supporting him first and foremost but I am glad to see that those who use to hate him have grown to appreciate his work. Also, I am glad to hear you enjoyed what I played… this is a really great mixtape (+414K only 76 more to become Datpiff’s first double platinum mixtape ever).
