Seasoned Pumpkin Seeds

As I mentioned previously in my Pumpkin Art piece, Halloween is a very big deal for me. The traditions passed down to me from my parents have been carried through religiously every year of my life. Aside from actually carving the pumpkins, there is another part of the Gourd hollowing process that I endorse. Seasoning and roasting pumpkin seeds! If you can wrap your head around the intestine-like innards of the pumpkin’s substance, roasted seeds can make for a delicious and rewarding snack.

The steps are simple, and I promise that anyone with any level of culinary prowess is capable of completing them. Below is a recipe that I created. Needless to say, there is a vast range of ingredients that could potentially substitute for any of mine, but this is a good start for those that need guidance.

Ingredients:

3 cups of Pumpkin seeds

1/4 cup of Olive Oil

1 tablespoon of Soy Sauce

1 tablespoon of Salt

1 tablespoon of Cumin

1 tablespoon of Garlic Powder

Directions:

1. Rid the seeds of any Pumpkin residue

2. Spread them evenly on a large baking sheet

3. Evenly pour the Olive Oil, Soy Sauce over the seeds

4. Evenly sprinkle the seasonings over the seeds

5. Mix everything together using your hands and spread evenly across the baking sheet

6. Set the oven on 300 and roast for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

When finished, they should look something like this…
