Runway: Stilettos

The Magic of heels is a concept embedded into women’s minds at a very young age. Ruby Slippers, Glass Slippers, and Carrie Bradshaw’s Closet: Things that excite the hearts and feet of women everywhere. Honestly, they excite me too. There is nothing more intriguing about a woman than her mind. Watching the way a woman makes her choices simply fascinates me. Now, as trivial as this may sound, the shoe a woman wears is a very interesting choice.

This particular fascination developed only recently. When I was living at 1246 with Janice and Brynn they always spent their study breaks watching “Sex and the City.” Suffice it to say I must have seen every episode while we slaved away at Western. Thus, my roommates introduced me to the world of beautiful women in beautiful shoes.

From that time forward I gained a respect for Alexander McQueen, Manolo Blahnik, and especially “Mr. Red Bottoms” Christian Louboutin. However, I must confess that I also have love for the both the odd and the extreme.

Recently, while I was at a fashion show here in Toronto, a fellow guest led my eyes to a pair of abstract heels. I was awestruck by the Picasso-esque attitude of these shoes, but I couldn’t discern what they would be worn with. Then it came to me, nothing! Oh what an epiphany, a nude Aphrodite adorned only in the finest footwear.

Since then I’ve looked around the net for a worthy pair. These Jeweled Sling-back Christian Louboutin’s are stunning, and I know just the perfect feet for them. The very thought is hypnotizing.

For the love of shoes. I truley enjoyed this. I love that as a man you can appreciate the high heel, aside from the fact that they make a girls butt look good, or some dominatrix fantasy. Yes heels make your legs look longer and your body appear thinner due to angles, proportions and clever tricks of the eye. But they are so much more. They are confidence, they are art. Stanley Tucci in ” The Devil Wears Prada” said they’re better then art “they’re better because they’re art you live your life in”. Be it Jimmy’s, Manolo’s, Loubou’s or my fave shoe designer of the moment Brian Attwood, heels are about attitude and femininity. I look forward to my first paycheck of my career, I will go and purchase 2 things. A classic Chanel bag and a pair of Louboutins, black suede, red bottoms, sky high <3.
