Ron “Dealz” Thomas

Coming up in the late 90′s and early 2000′s, my first taste of hip-hop came with a heavy influence of R&B. Acts like R Kelly, Usher, Jaheim and NEXT were always intertwined in the top 10 countdown on 106 and park. During that period, there was a certain chemistry that blended the likes of rap and soul. As an impressionable and emotional kid, I took to hits like I Wish, Wifey and U Remind Me. When I hear these songs now, I’m nostalgically taken back to my early teens when I first discovered them. Ron Thomas takes me back to that same place.

My introduction to Ron’s eclectic repertoire of music came from Tom Gist. He was featured on Gist’s current smash single From Scratch. The magic that he blesses the track with is incredible. Without pulling any major tricks, he lights up the song with a catchy and melodic hook that is sure to be permanently stuck in your head.

Another gem in the seemingly infinite treasure chest of Harlem, Ron Thomas is well on his way to super-stardom. As of late he has been working with the likes of several prevalent artists and performing on BET Music Matters. His latest body of work Roses & Vodka, which was released right before Valentines Day is an instant classic. The 9 track EP features all original music written and performed by Ron himself. For an album that provides a melancholic and reflective tone, each songs brings forth a strong justification to indulge.

Moving into 2012 and beyond, Ron “Dealz” Thomas is without question an artist that you should be paying attention to. His talent is evident, his message is clear and in turn, his voice will be heard.

Fully Agree. I think his voice is a straight mix between John Legend and Ruben Studdard.
