It’s mid-March. Winter is finally over. We can relax and take comfort in the fact that we won’t be freezing cold every time we trek outside of our warm dwellings. However, is the relief of warm weather enough to sooth the frozen soul? Is climate the only contributing factor to our geographical dissatisfaction? For Duane Perera it was so much more.

Having reached a turning point in his life due to the ending of a long term relationship, creative frustrations and the lush fruits of youth inevitably running out, Duane had nothing to lose. He wanted what we all want at one point or another: Adventure.

In the summer of 2010 the 30 year old Canadian musician/producer (www.ansane.com) set off on the most epic journey of his entire life. With several thousand dollars (some borrowed, some saved), travelers essentials, an open mind and a flip-cam, he began his mission to travel the world.

To document his travels he started up a Facebook Fan page/Youtube channel where people could watch his snippet style Video Blogs describing and demonstrating all of the places he has visited. To date Duane has released a staggering 62 Vlogs since beginning his voyage. Each segment features a different city and all of the interesting things (ranging from food, culture, religion, landmarks and people) it has to offer.

He must have premeditated the course of his travels months in advance, because in just under a year’s time he has successfully hit many of the world’s biggest festivals and traditional cultural celebrations on his trip. Just to name a few, here are some of the highlights:

Germany – The Love Parade

Germany – Oktoberfest

Spain – The World Cup Celebration

Spain – The Running of the Bulls

Spain – La Tomatina

Having watched all of the segments to date, I am inspired and humbled beyond words. The courage that it takes to travel the world, is unfathomable to me. Duane not only did this, but in the process started an articulate, intelligent and extremely informative video blog series as well.

If you have the time, I would highly recommend checking out some of Duane’s Vlogs and gaining some insight on some of the most amazing countries in the world.

Happy Travels Duane.

Unreal. I had never heard of this before but I’m humbled by seeing it. Whenever I travel, even though it is the most amazing feeling ever, I feel somewhat isolated from the places I travel to. Lonely in fact! Mostly because of the feeling of being truly foreign to another land.
For someone to do this type of this automatically makes me envy them!

glad you did this piece and good job !
