Nudity in advertising… Is it too much?

With summer on the horizon, we will be once again bombarded by an array of scantly clad models in lingerie, budgie smugglers (speedos), briefs, bikinis… and perhaps even less. Is it too much? How sexy is too sexy to be plastered on a billboard or in a magazine?

Here are a few examples:

The question that comes to mind for me, is why? What is the purpose… Is it shock factor?  How far is too far? When does advertising cross into the realm of soft core pornography? Personally, I think there is a fine line between being artistically provocative, and offensive. Many others might feel a lot of grey area is present.
