NFL Playoff Predictions: Round 3

I’ve tried to emulate Spock; I’ve tried to channel McCoy, and after last week’s games it’s due time to become the best of both: Captain James Tiberius Kirk!  For Star Trek fans Kirk has always been viewed as a leader who combines brash decision making with quiet logic, (Not to mention his fondness for green space women!).

I went 2 for 4 last week.  I went with my gut and it led me down a tumultuous but ultimately more satisfying path.  I learned a lot, but without any further ado let’s get to the games!

The AFC

New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Jets shocked the world last week.  The general public (myself included) thought that Brady and his boys would walk all over Sanchez and company.  Wrong!  The Jets put in a solid performance, (especially the defence), and proved all their nay-sayers wrong.  Just ask Bart Scott about “all the non-believers”!  The Steelers will come in a confident bunch; they’re not the losing type.  Every bone in my body tells me to go with them, but the Jets have gotten into my head.  Look for them to do the same thing they did in Foxborough, limit the Steelers reps and score timely TDs.

Prediction: New York Jets by 1!

The NFC

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears

Is Aaron Rodgers a god?  Does he have super-powers?  When I watch him zip passes to his receivers it feels like he does!  Rodgers stomped on my pick the Falcons last weekend.  The question is can he do it again, and against a first class defence?  The Bears have been the sleeper of the season.  Nobody has believed in this team from the get-go and the trend continues this weekend.  I promised myself I wouldn’t go against Rodgers again, but I guess I’m just a glutton for punishment.  I don’t think these guys can go into Chicago and turn this defense inside-out like they did to Atlanta.

Prediction: Chicago Bears by 3!

Were so close folks!  Not sure how many beers I’ve digested but I know I’ll be digesting a few more today.  The home-stretch run is upon us so kick up your feet for the AFC/NFC Championship games!

    For me it’s Packers/JETS — I stay green with my choices, but @alisonhaislip agrees with you… and I L O V E her… so if you’re right I won’t be mad

I really think that its going to be a steelers and packers superbowl. Bears by 3 is ballsy!

I know I know but I have this weird feeling, especially since everything has gone to hell with upsets! Your team is pretty money though!

LOL – not going so well with your predictions each week, huh? :)

This humble writer only calls them in his opinion! I do my best!

The game was actually down to the wire and the Packers didn’t look to good in the second half.
