Mike Epps – Under-Rated/Never-Faded

This past Sunday night my wife and I attended an amazing stand-up comedy show headlined by the “Under-Rated but Never-Faded,” Mike Epps. For those not-in-the-know you should be ashamed of yourselves!

Michael Eugene Epps began his Hollywood career when he was cast as the co-lead in “Next Friday.” Chosen to replace Chris Tucker, this relatively unknown comedian joked his way into not only the sequel (Friday After Next,) he also became good friends with producer Ice Cube along the way. Thereafter he landed roles in films including: How High, All About The Benjamins, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, The Hangover and the upcoming Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson film, “Faster.”

For those who know me you know Epps is my favourite comedic actor alive. Not only can the man make me laugh my ass off he’s also an accomplished thespian (The Fighting Temptations,) and a decent rapper! Furthermore, he is responsible for three of my favorite comedic characters to date: Day-Day of ‘Friday’ fame, Reggie from ‘All About the Benjamins,’ and the infamous “Baby Powder” from How High.

Last night he offered up yet another classic performance. Mike’s flawless routine confirmed the fact that he is the most under-rated comic in North America! Although he doesn’t have the same stage presence as Chris Rock, or the mass appeal of Dane Cook, he does out hustle both with swagger and charisma. While most comics are tortured souls we watch with fascination, Mike Epps is instead that jokester you want to share a drink with.

I know that all those in attendance that night had an amazing time, and I hope that all of you still unfamiliar with Epps will be inspired to give him a chance. You won’t regret it!

Pick up his comedy DVD Under Rated & Never Faded in stores now; or watch “Faster” in theatres November 24th!

I’m so happy you enjoyed the show man. I remember last year when you took me to see Kobe play… There is a certain allure in seeing an idol that can never be duplicated by a typical celeb. I love this piece because it is close to your heart, GREAT JOB!!!

Craziest thing is we were at the Raptors game that day and we were in the CTV seats (row 8). All of a sudden I yell “Yo, it’s Mike Epps!” He was sitting courtside and once I yelled it everyone ‘in the know’ around us stood up. I was yelling Day’Day as loud as I could!
