Mic Check YYZ

I wonder what outsiders hear when they land at YYZ. Worried that these foreign earlobes may be bombarded by bastardized sounds I’ve cooked up the cure. Yes, another local playlist crafted by the crafty, and waiting for the witty:

First off Triston Maurice: Day time barber at Onyx, and night time studio hound. Here’s a sample from his debut mixtape “Oh the Places.”

Next up the ever-loving Airplane Boys with fellow Torontonian David Matisse with the Keys N Krates remix of “Gold Ribbons.”

Then there’s Info the Astronaut, he’s hallowed these halls before, but never in my mind and brilliantly as below.

Whenever mentioning Info I can’t overlook the accomplishments of his mic-mate Just-In-Rhymes. Cue the video break!

But for those looking for something a little more gangsta, Rich Kidd hipped me to these goons recently: Nova Kane & Syph

Similar in sound and ambitious as of late is Luu Breeze. Here he is on the Game’s latest release “The R.E.D. Album.”

I can’t forget my boy David Versis especially with his show coming up at Wrong Bar August 25th.

Lastly, the cities two-headed monster! Starting with The Weeknd. He finally released his second FREE MIXTAPE, here’s my favorite offering.

And lastly, as Weezy once put it, “We Gon’ be alright if we put Drake on every hook!” Here is a perfect example of exactly that.

What a great piece man! This is really cool. I really admire the way you show and give love to those that inspire you. Toronto is a fantastic city and with a collection of artists like this within, it’s hard to not be proud as punch. Thank you for writing this piece. Can’t wait for the next one.
