Lupe Fiasco – Words I Never Said (Feat. Skylar Grey)

It’s not often I take such a strong interest in songs with obvious political undertone, but in Lupe’s newest offering Words I Never Said, I will absolutely make an exception. Within a culture of stupidity and lack of moral judgement, he whole heartedly stands up for what he disbelieves in. He fearlessly states his opinions (which like it or not, I fully agree with) not wavering for a second.

The themes represented in this song are what any record should entail. Ones belief. Ones true stance. It refreshes me beyond words to hear any artist speak not only their mind, but their heart. Without getting too political, the world is in trouble. People are losing their focus. We can change, and it’s with songs like this that we humans are going to accomplish that change.

Lupe Fiasco has been making music for a long time, and like most artists that have been fed a taste of success early on, it has taken him a couple of albums to completely come into his own. On his highly anticipated album LASERS slated to drop March 8th, he only further delves into the realm of realism and social commentary. I certainly don’t just speak for myself when i say, this is exactly what the world needs.

Thanks to Skylar Grey, people who don’t understand the lyrics will still enjoy this, but beyond that, it is a very important song that everyone should make an effort to comprehend. Please listen.

@ChrisAndFame great work! Though the song does not align with my personal political opinions, and I support free speech to the fullest and admire those that utilize it. Not the biggest Lupe fan, but he sounds passionate here, and I love the beat (that sample sounds super familiar for some reason).

Thanks dog. I know not everyone will agree with what he’s saying here, but like I said, he speaks a lot of undeniable truth in this song. I’m glad you listened. And it’s definitely a hot song beyond that as well. Holla.

      SLIME!

I know Lupe aint everyones cup of tea but I love the kid. People like to hate on him but he is insanely talented. Just because he doesnt rap about how amazing his wardrobe, carport and lifestyle doesnt endear him to most of the public.

Track is tight, Skylar goes hard!

This was the first track from Lupe I heard since food and liquor and I think he’s the same dude, he keeps it real and he hooked me again. He’s got some raw talent and he provokes his listeners to think. He’s in a position where he can effectively express his thoughts and he takes advantage of it. He takes a stand despite the fact that some people might think less of him, and for that he has my respect. Gotta love Lupe.
