Kanye West – My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Yes, I am a fan. Perhaps that makes my opinion bias. Or perhaps it’s not a matter of opinion at all. Perhaps Kanye West is such a musical genius that in this case, opinion is trumped by fact. The College Dropout changed the game. Late Registration made it look good.  Graduation made it look better. 808′s and Heartbreak reminded us that he is human. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy showed us his potential 100% realized.

This is the album that Kanye West has been leading up to his entire career. Yes, his past albums have been innovative, game changing, inspiring and hugely successful. On My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, it is crystal clear that he is finally doing exactly what he wants.

Format has never been something Kanye has followed. However on this album, there isn’t so much as a trace of it. On the album’s stand-out masterpiece All Of The Lights, he features a staggering 12 artists. Other songs are filled with multiple verses and bridges, interludes, skits and monologues. At the end of Blame Game, comedian Chris Rock is featured, praising his love interest for sexual knowledge that Kanye has bestowed upon her. On Runaway, the last verse of the song is destorted so much that Kanye’s voice is literally inaudable.

The album is dark. It’s absolutely twisted. Everything about it is a fantasy, and it is the most beautiful body of work Kanye West has ever produced. On November 22nd 2010, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy goes on sale in record stores around the world. I highly suggest you purchase a copy.

Always been a fan of Kanye although I rarely play his first 2 albums (other then a few gems). The man is a sort of Messiah – he has a song for everything you can possibly feel and can pretty much walk you through it.

808’s was my jam; sounds like “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” could be my peanut butter!!

    Thanks Chris!!

Time for the old guy to get on his soapbox!
I LOVE Kanye! I remember being at the Masonic Temple when MTV Canada first launched. They had this artist named Kanye come down to play his smash hit “Thru the Wire”. Needless to say it was amazing.
I knew a lot of haters of the man at the time. Most people thought he wwas backpack rap and that he was limited to being another “producer turned rapper”.
Im proud to say I knew better. Each album has gotten better and better (although I still love his first album the most) until this new album came along. UNREAL. I’m a bit upset that Christian DIor Denim flow wasnt icnluded but the power of the computer is I can just include on my itunes downloaded album.

Great article Chris, you continue to impress homie.

I didn’t like him until 808′s! However, I AGREE… WHERE IS CHRISTIAN DIOR DENIM?!?!?!

Im not a frequent commenter on any blog.. but i must give you much praise for paying homage to such a musical genius with such words. As much as people may despise him for his negative publicity, the fact of the matter is that he is truly gifted.

Many people despise and continually criticize him for his character, but they fail to look at the most important thing, his body of work. He continues to push the boundaries and raise the bar for other rappers that continue to limit themselves.

12 artist on ONE song….only kanye!

Thank you for taking the time to say that. I fully agree (as you read), and I stand by any artist fearless enough to release their heart to the world. He’s an inspiration to say the very least.
