Is Tupac Back?

For most fans of the late Tupac Shakur, a resurrection would be the most desirable wish. Although not possible, some still hold on to the dream. That dream was …. almost realized this past weekend at the iconic Coachella Music Festival.

U.S Tech giant AV Concepts gave fans the thrill of a lifetime by creating a live action hologram of Tupac. A perfectly scaled holographic portrayal of the late rapper came out to perform his hits Hail Mary and 2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted for an astonished crowd. The hologram was eerily accurate and depicted every physical detail familiar to anyone who followed his career.

As a result of this remarkable stunt, media outlets around the world have been offering up opinions on its impression. Some fully embracing the life-like duplication, others accusing its exploitation. As a fan, one side of me is thankful for the one-of-a-kind experience. However, on the same side of the coin, it seems extremely superficial and a little unsettling. To see it brought on a nostalgic feeling nonetheless, but is nostalgia not denial disguised? Tupac is dead. He was one of the brightest and most inspirational people of our generation and his legacy will last an eternity.

Must everything last forever?

Awesome piece man. I was watching this live last night. First off, you know I’m not a big rap/hip-hop fan. I’m into some of it like Drake and maybe Eminem, but not much else. So I wasn’t expecting a lot from Snoop and Dre’s set. However, they surprised the hell out of me and put on a sick show. Hit after hit, tons of guest stars (50, Eminem, Wiz Khalifa), it was just so cool to see. And then the Tupac thing just topped it off. I get why you would maybe feel unsettled by it all, but I just found it amazing. Unbelievable that we can do that kind of stuff with technology now. So cool.

I hear you dog. Like I said, it was definitely amazing to see as a fan, I just think they maybe went a little far, and what’s next? It’s equally scary as it is awesome. At the end of the day, I just thought that tyring to do stuff like this cheapens his legacy. I dunno… still mixed feelings. I DON’T KNOW HOW TO FEEL!!! MOM!!!! ahahahaha
