Hate To Say It

As promised, on Friday January 21st David Versis dropped his debut mixtape, “Hate to Say It.” That evening I was finishing up my latest “My Life at the Movies” blog. After numerous “Refresh” clicks on www.davidversis.com he finally dropped this introductory masterpiece. Did I say “Masterpiece”? Yes, I wasn’t misquoting myself, I said masterpiece.

Controlling the vocals in full and the majority of the production, David Versis brings us passion on digital wax, and he brings it in full. In the spirit of the mixtape he covers a variety of classic themes with a new age approach. Furthermore, by detailing the tracks with self-recorded guitar chords this effort sounds album ready.

However, if you forced me to pick a top 3 you wouldn’t have to twist my arm to confess my selections. First, the club-ready-banger “Doubt.” This hard-hitting braggadocios effort is bound to inspire some quotable moments. Second, “Love Over This,” a pseudo-soft-rock vibe combined with a lyrical twist regarding a writer’s struggle. It talks about pain whilst aiming for success. Speaking about pain, my third and final pick goes to “Undercover Girl.”

Undercover Girl is a great song discussing the complications of love and an individual’s past. This clever discussion regards learning to love a woman in-spite of the difficulties involved. I love it, and I enjoyed the mixtape thoroughly. As per the usual it’s V’s up over here and a big recommendation to download this blessedly free mixtape!

Nice coverage of this album/mixtape Jonny! I heard a bit of the effort this past weekend when you brought it over and from what I heard this is something even an old head like me could get into!
As you know I been busy at work and have been listening to new albums front to back white steady building away. Mr Versis has earned himself a spot on the rotation tomorrow!

I REALLY tried to completely listen to the “rap” but I’m sad to say, this 50+ mom just doesn’t understand it. I’m a lover of the melodic, light, airy, and non swearing style of music. Glad you
like though…hey, you at least got me to try it on for size:) Too bad it’s not a one size fits all style!

Thx Stiggy! I was hoping people would start sharing their fav tunes. I mean the album is good entrance to exit, it’s the reason the eject button is looking brand new after all. However, I love tossing around fav tracks and personal reasons for such. V’s Up

I don’t even know what to say. This project has been a ride from beginning to end, everything is straight on point, and I’m ecstatic to even be a part of it. Versis all day, V’s up. Let’s push this heater of a mixtape.

Will do! Congrats on the launch, but this is obviously just the beginning. A few days in and it’s already catching a big buzz… time to make sure it catches a MASSIVE one! V’s UP!

I just want to take a second to thank Dreamland as a whole for showing me as much love as you have. Thank you to Chris Elliott for introducing me to the Dreamland community, and to Jon Godfrey for having my back with every movement I’ve made since I’ve stepped on the scene. Great review, thank you again for the love, and I hope I continue to rep our town and make you all proud. God Bless!
