Cam’ron – Oh What A Night

When Cam’ron got shot in 2005, it was widely publicized and discussed within the Hip-Hop community. Some thought it was shocking, others thought it was set up. Regardless, the abrupt shooting and attempted car-jacking of the Harlem native birthed a reflective record that until now has not been heard in full.

Shortly after the shooting, Cam’ron released the track to New York City radio host DJ Kay Slay. He let the public hear only a fraction of the song, and since that time, it has not been heard in full. Until now.

The record, sampling the 1975 hit by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons Oh What A Night, puts an interesting and almost humorous twist upon an otherwise frightening situation. Cam’ron delivers the classic comedic arrogance and bravado fans know him best for, all while telling the tale of the night he almost lost his life.

With strong similarities to past hits, Oh What A Night is yet another record that Cam’ron fans will instantly be able to identify with.

Enjoy.

Nice take… Providing that background depth (and the “Crime Pays” era picture) allows fans and newcomers alike to not only approach this material, but also enjoy it. It’s not his best work, but like most of Killah’s collection, it’s endlessly enjoyable.

Agreed on all counts. Couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s catchy as hell, and as I Cam fan, that’s what I expect. Dipset! Killa!

Ahaha Thanks dog. The snippet that Kay Slay played in 05 was amazing, and this full version made it one of my all time favorite songs by Killa.
