Cadence

Even King Kong had to figure out a way to serenade his sweetheart. Without his tender touch and doleful eyes that big ape would’ve never captured the heart of his lovely Dwan.

Men, being slightly evolved versions of that oversized primitive, need similar swag if they plan to catch a keeper. One of the most time honored techniques used to capture a woman’s attention is ‘the song.’ From British orphans to Top Gun pilots — ballads have always been a valid means to a romantic end.

I (being the charming monkey that I am), love to play a lovely tune for a lovely lady as often as I can. Whether it be Rock, Country, R&B, Soul, or Showtunes I love me a good love song.

Last night I was lucky enough to attend Andre-Philippe Gagnon’s “One-Man Hit Parade” at Mirvish’s Canon Theatre. [Additional info  regarding this rock-filled show is forth-coming from Chris]. In the meantime, I would like to highlight the show’s opening act: Cadence.

Like I was saying before, music provides access to the heart, and Cadence performs such in an amazing way. This A Cappella quartet started off the show by running through an array of speakeasy classics and contemporary gems. Their rendition of My Fair Lady’s “On the Street Where You Live,” was definitely my favorite song in their set. It reminded this ignorant ape that the joy of love is often found in its expression. Thank you Cadence! King Kong’s gotta go light some candles now, LOL ;)
