Andre-Philippe Gagnon (The Man With 400 Voices)

This past week, I had the privilege to attend one of the most entertaining and impressive shows of my entire life. When Jon told me that our friends JLB and Amanda had blessed us with tickets to a French Canadian comedy show, I was skeptical to say the least. I don’t think I’ve been more taken back by an act in my life.

Andre-Philippe Gagnon has had an amazing career. With a residency in Las Vegas, an opening act for Celine Dion’s world tour, and appearances on various late night television shows, he has proven to be one of the most talented artists of our generation. Andre-Philippe has been doing vocal impressions of literally 100′s of artists for his almost 40 year career. The man can flawlessly emulate the voice of virtually any singer in the history of music. Among the most notable were his impressions of Barry White, Mick Jagger, Tracy Chapman, Elvis, Elton John, Bryan Adams and Johnny Cash.

As an impressionist myself, I have a distinct recognition of the (at times) painstaking process it takes to perfect someone else’s voice. Andre-Philippe not only does this, but also sings beautifully, more so than some of the most successful artists topping the billboard charts today.

His act is extremely creative and also very interactive with the audience. At one point of the show, he challenges a willing participant to an on-the-spot impression of their singing voice. By this point, I was not at all surprised to see that he nailed that as well.

If you have the chance to see him, I highly recommend that you go. Jon and myself were completely floored by his charisma and talent.

Here is a quick preview of a few of his besst impressions.

I see you got jokes about my girl T-Swizzle!!! HAHAHAHAHA

Regardless, I dig your take on the show. It really was a very impressive act. 60 years of rock in 60 minutes, and the best impersonation of an old Italian audience member singing Barbara Streisand I’ve ever seen!
