A Godfrey Family Christmas

“Mom and Dad I won’t be home for the holidays; I’m over 800 miles away,” (Cyhi Da Prynce ~ Christmas in Harlem Remix). These lyrics ring true for 2010. I’ll be staying in Toronto for the holidays; in the office by day, and on the computer by night. For the last decade I’ve been caught up getting my life together and missing my parents in Salt Lake City. With that said I wanted to take some time out in the blog for a “Godfrey Family Christmas.”

We are a weird family no doubt; a bunch of busy bee’s scattered across the continent. Though we seemingly make no time for each other our love is incredible, and our support ever present. My father is writing his new book, my sister enjoying her new job, and my mother is busy being the saint that she is.

When it comes to Christmas my family certainly has traditions I miss. My father’s amazing culinary skills and my mother’s over the top decorations, however, are the ones I miss most. This year there will again be no Martha Stewart styled turkey, and no Michael McLean playing over the intercom. There won’t be a forest of well lit trees, and me and Rachel won’t race to finish 48 Toffifee. However, the love remains and continuously increases :)

Mom, Dad, Rachel I love you all so much. John, Brian, Chris you are the most amazing blog team anyone could ever work with. Sharlene, Adam, JLB, Amanda, Sabrina, and everyone else… thank you so much for all of your support! Merry Christmas, and I promise you 2011 is going to be even crazier. Stay tuned to Dreamland and LET ME KNOW!!!

I like this piece Jon. Very personable letting us, the reader, relate to you as more then just Blogzilla. Hope your family is well (I know they’ll be reading this).

The house looks amazing, certainly has your Mothers touch! My only question … when are we heading back to Salt Lake?!? (I do miss the valley quite often)

Ya, that is just three rooms (and an angle in each room). Serious, that house is crazy… I should have put up some pictures of my Dad’s epic kitchen. It is 3 times the size of my tiny apartment, LOL!

As for the love… you gave me a place to write, that’s one of the greatest gifts anyone has ever given me. I love you lil bro!

The goal in being a parent is to live long enough to feel secure knowing the future is in your children’s hands. You are a wonderful son, a marvelous human being and an important part of all of our futures. We love you so much.

I seriously don’t think I over decorate for Christmas…I just try and make it “Christmas-ee”. Yes I know it’s not a real word:) Your dad IS an amazing cook! Sorry you missed his Christmas dinner this year! We are proud of the people you & Rachel are. People who love their family, who support their friends and who help others. Great blog sweetie:)
